We had probably one of the best Halloweens ever this year. How can you go wrong when it is 70 degrees out and your street (new house) has a block party and everyone gathers at the end of the circle with food and drinks and a tv to watch Monday night football. It was a great way to meet a bunch of our new neighbors all at once and we really liked them all and are looking forward to actually living on the street. I don't know if you can tell from the picture but some of the houses go nuts in the decoration department. The amount of kids trick or treating is kind of incredible but super fun to watch especially when you are wearing flip flops and taking your time enjoying the people and the weather.
Scarlett loved going from house to house and collecting candy but wouldn't smile or talk to anyone. I think she was in the candy zone. Her pumpkin was getting so full and heavy that she was practically dragging it but if you offered to carry it for her she went insane. Ellie, of course took off with her girlfriend, who is our neighbor so they could move fast and far. Don't let the picture scare you but her friend, Tori is 10 and taller than me and in her Lady GaGa 6 inch platform boots she is a giant. Neither of them lasted all night in their boots, the Nikes came out after a while and the trick or treating went on. It was obscene
how much candy they both got. Scarlett pulls her pumpkin out twice a day (mom's rules) and empties all the candy out but not before smelling each piece and then saying "Ahhh", followed by opening one and then kissing it before she eats it. This is all new to me, Ellie was never this into sweets. I'm a little scared at her obvious LOVE of candy. The only good part is she hasn't really liked too many of the things she has tried so as her parents we feel obligated to make sure nothing goes to waste.
Can't wait until next year when we can decorate the house, sit in the warm weather on our new porch and hand out 3,000 bags of candy while chatting with neighbors. If you want your kids to have the full on traditional Halloween without coats, hats and gloves send them over.
