Vegetables

Quick post to document and brag about what a fantastic eater my small baby is. For example one night at dinner in Palm Springs I ordered Scarlett mini corn dogs and fries (as you can see I am trying to push healthy eating) while I ordered salmon and asparagus. Scarlett was sitting on my lap because she insists on standing in high chairs instead of sitting in them, anyway she kept pushing her corn dogs away and proceeded to eat all my asparagus and some fish which meant I was forced to eat the corn dogs which were surprisingly delicious and fries.
Example number 2, a few nights ago I made vegetable stir fry for dinner and Scarlett ate a huge plate of broccoli, asparagus, baby corn cobs, snow peas and edamame with rice She rocks. Every morning and lunch she eats tons of fruit, pretty much any kind, raspberries, grapes, oranges and strawberries being her favorites. Robert is convinced she will be a vegetarian, now I just need to get Ellie on board.

On a different note Scarlett had her 18 month visit and she is a pound for every month she has been alive. 18 pounds and still in the 0%. We had her in a size 6 to 9 month bikini in Palm Springs and it fell off her. I had to safety pin it around her waist. Maybe eating to many veggies is affecting her size but the doctor said she is healthy and we are loving watching her personlity come to life. She is a joy to be with and I love hanging with her all day while Robert is at work and Ellie is at school.

PALM SPRINGS

We were thrilled to get out of the snow for a week and spend some quality family time in Palm Springs. The resort was gorgeous and we spent many hours at the pools. What else do you do when it is sunny and 85 degrees everyday. Our patio looked out to a lake with ducks which Scarlett loved and riding our bikes around town was also a hit.
Ellie got a fabulous new bike for her 10th birthday which she celebrated by taking her best friend to Tea Time at the Grand America Hotel. It was quite fun and low key. More about that later.
My idea of a perfect vacation includes lots of sleeping in which never happens with a 1 year old but laying on your patio in the warm sun eating strawberries and oranges at 7:30 a.m. certainly beats laying in your dark, cold house with snow outside watching cartoons and eating cereal at 7:30 a.m. The other high light of our trip was leaving Robert and Scarlett at the hotel to fend for themselves while Ellie and I went to see "Never Say Never". You read right, the Justin Beiber movie which I ended up really liking. Thanks to the cd Christie sent Ellie for her birthday we got to enjoy listening to "the beiber" in our car to and from California. Scarlett loves the cd and makes me put it on daily so she can dance to it. I seriously love having girls. Our hotel bathroom had a HUGE jetted tub which Ellie, Scarlett and myself spent plenty of nights in. Don't worry Robert didn't feel left out, he was just happy for some quiet alone time besides the 2 hour bike rides he did every morning after feeding the girls breakfast. It has taken a while but he might actually be getting it. He even made them pancakes one morning with the help of Ellie and danced to Ellie's Justin Beiber cd. All in all a good time was had and we now know where we want to retire.
